About Bear Creek Church
Bear Creek Church is at the crossroads of West Houston, Katy and Cypress, Texas. The community is diverse and growing with the expansion of I-10 and the Grand Parkway-Highway 99, often called the "energy corridor." We sit in the middle of two of our state's largest school districts, Cy-Fair ISD and Katy ISD.
The gospel is the good news of God’s grace coming into the darkness of our world. It is the whole story of the Bible, God reaching out to the lostness of humanity and bringing salvation through the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. Christ’s death on the cross is the heart of the gospel. His resurrection is the assurance of the gospel. His ascension is the hope of the gospel.
Christ’s death is the sacrifice we need for God’s forgiveness of our sin. It satisfies the demands of God’s holiness. It also demonstrates His incredible love for us. Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity. The gospel describes everything God offers us and everything we need to be fully formed in Him. Therefore, we want everything we are and everything we do as a church to proceed from and be related to the gospel.

Our Story
In 1977, seven couples began a home Bible study in the Bear Creek area of West Houston. They had a vision for a new church that would serve the existing area and the community that would be there in the future. At that time, only a few neighborhoods existed and fewer businesses were clustered along the Highway 6 corridor. However, these individuals saw potential as Houston continued to grow westward for new neighborhoods, homes and most importantly, new people who needed Christ.

In 1978, the small Bible study became a mission worshipping in a KinderCare on Clay Road across the street from an empty field. By 1981, they bought the field and constructed a building where they began life together as a church with more than 175 members. Throughout the next twenty years, they continued to build, reach and make disciples.
In 2001, Pastor David Welch accepted the role as lead pastor. At that time, Bear Creek had 2,141 church members and a regular Sunday attendance of approximately 897. The church had built a total of 57,000 square feet of ministry space and was continuing to reach the community for the gospel, baptizing 1,216 individuals within its 20 years.

Throughout the next few years, Bear Creek began to outgrow its ministry spaces. The church was landlocked and had reached capacities within its buildings. Real estate experts suggested that Bear Creek’s land needs would be impossible to find in the West Houston area, but God provided 35 acres at Fry Road and West Little York.

Bear Creek moved into its new facility in March 2006. The building was 50 percent larger than the previous campus, and the church doubled in average attendance within the first 18 months and saw 1,000 new professions of faith.
After several years, Bear Creek began experiencing capacity issues in three critical ministry areas. While trusting God to produce greater things through the building campaign, the church broke ground in February 2014 to add 27,500 square feet of new ministry spaces for preschoolers, children and adults. Bear Creek held its grand opening for the new building on January 25, 2015, and the church is already seeing God’s hand within each ministry.

About The Bible
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and without error in the original writings, and that they are our supreme and final authority in faith and life. 2 Timothy 3:16
About God
We believe in one God, the Creator, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is called the Trinity. Genesis 1:1, 26-27
About Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and was and remains true God and true man. Matthew 1:22-23; Titus 2:13

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate. I Corinthians 15:2-8; Hebrews 4:15-16.

We believe in the blessed hope of the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Titus 2:13; Acts 1:11.
About Humanity
We believe that God created Adam and Eve in the divine image; that they sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death - which is separation from God; and that, as a result of Adam's sin, all human beings are now born with a sinful nature and stand guilty before God. Genesis 3:17; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23.
About The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells and gives spiritual life to all believers, enables them to understand Biblical truth, empowers them for Godly living, gives them spiritual gifts and equips them for service and witness. John 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 5:18.
About Salvation
We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified by His death on the cross. We believe that all who by faith receive Christ by faith and repentance are born again by the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. John 14:6; Romans 5:1; Romans 6:23; Titus 3:5.
About Eternity
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, everlasting life with God for the saved (heaven), and the everlasting separation from God of the lost (hell). John 3:16; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15.
About The Church
We believe that the New Testament church is a local body of baptized believers with Christ as its head and the Holy Spirit as its guide. We believe that spiritual community is essential to the spiritual health of any follower of Christ. Matthew 16:18, Ephesians 1:22; Hebrews 10:24-25.
About The Ordinances
We believe that the Church observes two ordinances - baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that all who have received Christ should be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; that baptism is by immersion as a picture of death, burial, and resurrection of Christ; and that the Lord's Supper should be observed in remembrance of Him as a testimony to His death for our sins until He comes again.
