Getting in the Zone:
Learn to fixate on the one most important thing.
Let it take over your mind.
1 Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. 2 He was faithful to the One who appointed Him …
1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
THE BIG IDEA:
Fix your thoughts, your attention, your mind on Jesus – this will ultimately set everything right in you.
Three Fixed Thoughts:
I. Fix your thoughts on Jesus and where He is
“… keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. “
Colossians 3:1–2 (NASB)
II. Your thoughts fixed on Jesus and what He does
“… fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. “
“24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood.
25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26 Such a high priest meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.”
“14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
16 Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
III. Your thoughts fixed on Jesus and who He is
“… fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith … “
