Sam Fowler, Pastor of the Children's and Family Ministry at Bear Creek Church, brings us "The Secret of Contentment".
Scripture Passage:
10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity.11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
The Secret of Contentment
I can trust God no matter what! If we are content, we are confident in God’s Providence.
We get what we get and we’re happy with it. If we are content, we are satisfied with little & our giving should be generous.
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade! If we are content, life is not dependent on our circumstances.
With Jesus’ help, I can do it! If we are content, we are empowered by God alone.
Follow-up Questions:
When is it hardest for you to be content?
What are some ways we can learn to be content?
What do you know about God that can help you be content?
Do you have to be happy with what you have to be content? Why or why not?
