Story Focus: We kick off January with the end of the Christmas story. In Matthew 2:1-12, we meet wise men from the east whose lives were dedicated to discovering more about the universe. One night they noticed a bright star that led them on an epic journey to find the King of Kings prophesied in the ancient Hebrew Scriptures. When these men finally found Jesus, they worshipped Him as king. Through a dream, God gave them more knowledge to help them escape King Herod and his plot to find Jesus.


Bottom Line: Never stop searching for what’s true. We will never know everything there is to know about God. The world is so big, and God is even bigger! That can feel overwhelming even for adults. We pray that as kids start to understand the truth about God, they’ll be inspired to keep searching for the life God has for them.


Key Question: What are some things that are true? Our preteens start with a big question about truth. With so many voices speaking into the hearts and minds of kids, it’s important for them to think about the things that are true about God and about the life God has for us. As we consider the things we know to be true, we can remember that God is the author of truth. That’s the knowledge we should search for
