Word of Encouragement: What We Think Matters

A couple of Sundays ago I shared with our students that what we think matters. When we face difficult circumstances or become overwhelmed, our thinking can be what either hurts us or helps us. Negative thinking only makes things harder. But when we choose to focus on what God tells us in His Word, He gives us what we need to overcome what we are facing.
Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
I encourage you to write down on notecard scriptures that God gives you that will help you focus on the eight things listed in Philippians 4:8. Then when the tough times come, pull them out and read them so that your focus is on what God wants for you. Because what you think really does matter!
