Word of Encouragement: Help Comes from the Lord

Word of Encouragement from Candy McLaughlin, Connection Ministry Director

Is there something in your life that you fear? One of my greatest fears was having foot surgery after our son was born. How was I going to care for our son when I couldn’t weight-bear for several weeks – that and the fact that I don’t do well with anesthesia. It consumed my thoughts and prayer life. One day I figured I had worried enough and prayed enough (and didn’t feel a whole lot better) so I began spending more of my quiet time praying for others.

A couple of weeks later as I was praying for Rick when he was in the middle of a job interview, I opened my Bible to pray whatever scripture God led me to. As God had me in Psalms, He brought these verses to me – He covered my feet and my sleep (anesthesia) all in one fell swoop! Keep your eyes on God – He’s Got You!

Psalm 121:1-8: “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip - he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life.”
