Becoming (part 3): How Love Grows as a Fruit of Your Life, Pastor David Welch

Updated: Nov 13, 2022

October 23, 2022

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

THE IDEA:

This matters most – knowing that you are loved so deeply that it transforms you from the inside out.

Agape.

It’s NOT primarily an emotion, rather, it’s a behavior; It is an act of self-sacrifice for the highest good of another.

How Love Grows as a Fruit of Your Life:

I. When You See Jesus Loving You

[Jesus] "... began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded."

John 13:5 (NASB1995)

II. When You Let His Love Affect Your Heart

"… weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears, and kept wiping them with the hair of her head, and kissing His feet and anointing them with the perfume."

Luke 7:38 (NASB)

28 “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

For all Simons – “Look at the woman”

  • Look at her tears

  • Look at her hair

  • Look at her kisses

  • Look at her perfume

III. When You Turn To Love’s Source

v22 “but the fruit of the Spirit is love …”

v25 "If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit."

Galatians 5:22,25
