If God is For Us (Part 1): No Condemnation, Pastor David Welch

Updated: Apr 14

1 "Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, "

Romans 8:1-3 (NASB1995)

The Idea:

You can live a life free of condemnation – but it’s harder to embrace than you think.

When you embrace:

1. Why We Are Condemned

“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 8:1 (NASB1995)

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men …”

Romans 1:18  (NASB1995)

28 “And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, 30 slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, 31 … untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death … “

Romans 1:28-32 (NASB1995)

2 “And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things.

5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God …”

Romans 2:2, 5 (NASB1995)

“there is now … no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 8:1 (NASB1995)

“For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all;"

Romans 6:10 (NASB1995)

" … because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself."

Hebrews 7:27 (NASB1995)

"For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God … “

1 Peter 3:18  (NASB1995)

2. How His Forgiveness Will Affect Me

“Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. “

Romans 8:1 (NASB1995)

3. The Outcome No Longer Motivated By Guilt

1 “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. “

Romans 8:1-2 (NASB1995)

How do I make this real for me every day?

1. Renew Your Mind In It Every Day

“If God is for me, who can be against me?

If He did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for me, how will He not also with Him graciously give me all things … “

Romans 8:31-32 (NASB1995)

2. Confess Your Sins Every Day

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

1 John 1:9 (NASB1995)
