We were honored today to have with us, Guest Speaker Wes Wilkinson, College Minister from Central Baptist Church in College Station. Wes shared the story of Elijah and Ahab in 1 Kings 18:16-40.
The story asks, "Israel, who do you serve?"
And today we ask the same question of ourselves because we can easily fall into the trap of idolatry.
5 simple reasons Baal worship was acknowledged among the people of Israel:
It was supported and promoted by the leaders
It was socially acceptable
It was pragmatic, both sides could be played
It focused exclusively on felt needs
It gratified all fleshly desire
These are the same 5 reasons why we can easily fall into idolatry today.
We must remember that God is God alone. There is no other. He is the God that answers.
